BELINDA TREBLE WINS TRIPLE CROWN AT THE FLEETWOOD ACCORDION
DAY, THE CMA AWARD BEING THE COUPE MONDIALE ENTRY SECTION.
I am delighted to report that the Fleetwood
Accordion and Music Festival was a complete success. The
accordion day with over 50 sections and 225 entries was held
in 3 sections of the Marine Hall, with 3 sets of adjudicators. From the
Adjudicators point of view, it was a complete success, although an hour behind
because of late arrivals, with the professionalism of the
Adjudicators, we ended up on schedule.
If there was a more perfect ending to a superb day, the
concert was indeed a true finale with The incredible Colchester Showband under
the direction of Elaine Beecham, and the superb playing of Nina Suscenko.
Ken Hartley with hilarious comedy and superb accordion
expertise, Larysa Bodell and Stefan Andrusyschyn giving a
marvelous duet performance and the Club Maestros on top form with Justin Ryan
for Stockport, David Batty Organiser of the Leyland Accordion club seemed very
much at home on the
Marine Hall Stage, giving the audience a treat with his very
varied program. Andrew Figg and Belinda Treble representing our club, both
played magnificently.
The reception for the Concert set the mood with Jeff and Jay,
this was a new idea, and it was superb.
The Les Dawson Festival day had over 120 entries with the
Musician of the Year and Entertainment Sections were won by an accordionist,
firstly Larysa Bodell with her recital program, and Andrew Figg with his
entertainment set. The piano and keyboard sections well
supported, with Christina Briggs School of music taking home trophies from the
event, The Marsh Mill School, every pupil won an award, well done all of you.
I must say thanks to all who helped get this event on the
road, on the day, without you it would have been impossible, thank you Michael
Figg for all your hard work raising money for the trophies, and help on the day.
To John Fairclough, and all the team, Thank You very much for making this
Festival the success it was.
